The device does not have a device driver: When a device driver for a device is not available, Device Manager displays the device as Unknown Device and puts it in the Other devices branch. This is very common with universal serial bus (USB) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) 1394 composite devices. Look through the list of devices in the Device Manager window to find the names of hardware devices connected to your PC. Those names will help you find their drivers. If you see any “unknown devices,” those are devices that aren’t functioning properly because they don’t have any driver installed at all. Every USB device has a unique hardware id (the combination of VID and PID), so to accomplish the above task my approach is to get COM PORT of USB Serial Device on the basis of VID/PID. The registry of the windows kept the information of the device, so simple logic here to open the windows registry and get the com id.
